Yarn Care Instructions
Proper care keeps your finished pieces looking beautiful for years. Follow the guidelines below based on your fiber content.
Wool
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool wash. Do not agitate or wring. Press out excess water gently, then lay flat to dry away from direct heat and sunlight.
Wool / Nylon
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle wool wash. The nylon content adds durability, but the wool still requires gentle handling. Do not agitate or wring. Press out excess water and lay flat to dry.
Lotus / Wool
Hand wash in cool water with a very gentle detergent. Lotus fiber is delicate and silky — handle with extra care. Do not wring or twist. Lay flat to dry away from heat and direct light. Expect a beautiful drape and subtle sheen that improves with gentle care.
General Tips
- Alternate skeins as you knit — even within the same colorway, slight dye variations can occur between skeins. To ensure an even, consistent look in your finished piece, alternate two skeins every two rows throughout your project.
- Use a Color Catcher on the first wash — Painted Skein takes great care to ensure colorfast results, however, some light bleeding may occur, especially with certain highly saturated or vibrant dyes.. We recommend adding a Color Catcher sheet to your first wash as a precaution to protect your finished piece.
- Avoid soaking for extended periods, and use care when combining very light and very dark colors in the same project.
- Store finished pieces folded, not hung, to preserve their shape
